Rosemary

“Rosemarinus officinalis”

Organic Rosemary Hydrosol

The word “hydrosol” means water (hydro) and volatility (sol), so a hydrosol is simply water that has volatility, meaning ingredients that have a high vapour pressure and evaporate easily.

It’s important to note that hydrosols are NOT simply distilled water with essential oils added to them. In this case, the two would not mix.

Water-soluble plant oils will combine with the water and impart therapeutic properties when steam distillation is used.

This creates a much gentler, more diluted product, which is generally safer to use than an essential oil.

When an essential oil is added to distilled water it is known as “floral water”

Health Benefits

An Antioxident

Rosemary hydrosol is rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants help to neutralise potentially harmful free radicals in the body.

They protect us from harmful molecules called free radicals, which damage cell structure and DNA by causing mutations that lead to diseases such as cancer.

It provides your skin with iron, calcium and several essential vitamins. Rosemary is a strong antioxidant, which gives skincare anti-ageing properties.
